After weeks of anticipation, the day has finally arrived. Boeing is expected to break ground at its newest facility in North Charleston on Friday morning. The groundbreaking will be more of a ceremonial event, and construction is slated to begin in December, according to a Boeing spokesperson.

South Carolina stands to gain a seventh congressional seat if population projections hold for the 2010 census. At least two national groups predict that South Carolina will be one of eight states gaining seats because of growing populations. House Democrats are looking at swelling deficits further, at least temporarily, on a jobs-producing bill in response to double-digit unemployment and a sense within their ranks that the party needs to do more to put people back to work.
